About
Welcome to Charlie's Restaurant at the Windsor Golf Club, a gem located at 1320 19th Hole Dr, Windsor, California. This casual yet classy dining establishment is perfect for food lovers seeking a memorable experience enriched with scenic views of the golf course. Offering exquisite American cuisine, from breakfast to dinner, Charlie's is a versatile venue that caters to all—couples, families, and groups alike.
In my visits, each dish was a testament to the restaurant's dedication to quality and freshness. Notably, the fried calamari served with a spicy chipotle aioli was a delightful starter, crisp yet tender, hitting the spot perfectly. Guests, like Auntie J., rave about the tender New York steak sandwich, a must-try for meat aficionados. The feedback from locals reinforces that Charlie's has become a go-to destination for reliable, satisfying meals.
As Tanya O. aptly expressed in her review, the combination of good service and spectacular views elevates the dining experience at Charlie's. Whether you're out on the golf course or in the neighborhoods of Windsor, Charlie's Restaurant at the Windsor Golf Club is worth a visit for anyone who values delicious food in an inviting atmosphere.

“ I'm sorry this restaurant has gotten such bad reviews. I went there for the first time today with a girlfriend late afternoon for a couple munchies and a cocktail and it was quite lovely. We had excellent service we had a beautiful view of the golf course by the way it was a lovely day we had a nice glass of wine and they have a large selection my girlfriend had a cocktail it was all good and then we had this pokey with beautifully fried chips we were quite happy. ”
“ My wife and I enjoy coming here when we can. Happy hour specials on food and drinks are a plus. I love the Braised short rib I go with the creamy mash instead over the polenta, personal preference. Wife always goes with the clam chowder and a HH appetizer or two. Only reason I gave it 4 stars is last few times the beers on tap only half have been available. The last time not one beer on tap for HH. Service is always great. Great view of the golf course and in summer patio dinning is the best. ”
“ We came in the late afternoon on a Monday hoping to catch a late lunch since we weren't quite up for dinner yet. At that early hour you ask at the bar. They enthusiastically welcomed us & sat at one of the dining tables. Since it was right before 4pm they let us choose from both menus. . I got the NY steak sandwich, which comes with the skinny kind of French fries. Wasn't sure how this was going to go since I like my steak cooked medium-well to avoid the stringyness some steaks get when too rare. I was delighted & pleasantly surprised to find the steak incredibly tender as I bit into it, perfect. The cab wine was a perfect (for me match). It was a pleasure to later talk to the chef about how he sourced the meat, its age, etc. . Alas, no food pictures this time, but we enjoyed our "before the dinner rush" meal. ”
“ Charlie's is always a favorite when dining in Windsor. Lunch, dinner or brunch, they don't disappoint, it's now one of my go to spots. As a vegetarian, I'm always looking for something other than a typical veggie burger on a menu. They have a vegetarian/vegan menu, and plenty of gluten free items as well. I'm a big fan of the beet patty melt, mushroom raviolis and the Sonoma salad (with non-chicken nuggets instead of chicken), yum! If you're in the area, give Charlie's a try. Chef Robert, the staff, and the bartenders do a great job. ”
“ What a Happy Mother's Day AND an exquisitely delicious buffet by Chef Robert and staff to serve us so beautifully! Many thanks to his sweet daughter Sam for taking photos of the six of us by the beautiful gardens! The buffet was full of selections - all fresh and plentiful. The ingredients were top quality - the ending of desserts was equally stupendous. The warm dark chocolate topping for the fresh, clean strawberries and churros was out of this world decadent! We have always been welcomed by staff and reservations honored w/ superb efficiency. Can't wait to return. Did I mention the clean restroom? Yes, indeed, an excellent venue for dining if you value quality Prime Rib, Fresh Biscuits w/ Chicken & Gravy, Chile Relleno's, etc. ”
“ For our anniversary while we are in Napa each year, we love to go to a fancy or new restaurant to treat ourselves. This year was unique in that we got to try a restayrant that hadnt been open for over a week yet in St. Helena. Charlies just opened after years of planning. A diverse menu of home cooked meal favorites like fried chicken mixed with steaks and pasta means that there is something for everyone. An extensive cocktail and wine list rounds out the menu to make even the biggest Napa foodie happy. For drinks I went with an Old Fashioned that was simple, but exquisite. My wife went with a zero proof cocktail that was absolutely delicious. For mains, we went traditional steakhouse. I had the Brown Butter aged American Wagyu. It easier served with a Russet Potato Latke, Spinach Salad, and a Burnt Onion Au Poivre sauce. It was divine. My wife had the special, which was a half pound lobster with a Herb salad and a Sea Urchin Butter. Oh my was that butter to die for. I may have used some of it for my steak because we weren't letting any of it go to waste. For dessert, we had the Campfire Pie. Which is their take on Cindy's Classic Dessert paying homage to the previous tenant of the location and St. Helena main stay. A wonderful restaurant and we hope them the best! ____ ”
“ First time we've ever been to Charlie's. The outdoor seating area is fantastic. We ordered off the happy hour menu and had jalapeño poppers, and tasted great fresh and crunchy. We also ordered the pork sliders, which were good but a little too dry. Maybe adding a barbecue sauce on the side would have helped. I ordered a crème brûlée off the main menu, and it was fantastic. Two fresh, raspberries, fresh cream and nice crunchy caramelized sugar top. The service was great and friendly, and we will definitely plan on coming back. ”
